Squirrel Icelandic lopapeysa sweater knitting pattern, featuring a forest motif on its Fair Isle yoke, is a unique design inspired by the tradition of Icelandic knitting. The design is based on my own ideas, which I have already explored in the Selbu Hats Collection.
The body and sleeves are worked in the round from the lower edge to the underarms, then joined to work the yoke in the round. The round begins at the left side of the body. On the yoke, the round begins on the left side of the back, at the joining of the body and sleeve. For knitting the sleeves, I recommend using the ‘magic loop’ technique, which helps prevent bunching when working the pattern and increasing the sleeve, and also saves time.
There are two versions of the sweater: one with long sleeves (in brown colour), available in adult sizes XS–5XL, and another with cropped sleeves and a cropped body (in white colour), available in adult sizes XS–2XL.
The pattern includes a size chart with basic measurements and calculations. This will make it easier to choose the right size and guide you while working on your sweater. The chart is versatile and can also be used when working on other lopapeysa sweaters.
