The Squirrel Duo sweater and hat pattern features a forest motif on a Fair Isle yoke and is inspired by the tradition of Nordic knitting. The design builds on ideas I first explored in my Selbu Hats Collection.

This set includes Squirrel hat and Squirrel Icelandic lopapeysa sweater patterns — also available separately.

The Sweater: The body and sleeves are worked in the round from the lower edge to the underarms, then joined to work the yoke. The round begins at the left side of the body and, on the yoke, at the left side of the back where the body and sleeve join. For the sleeves, I recommend the magic loop technique, which prevents stitches from bunching up as you increase and saves time.

There are two versions: long sleeves (brown) in adult sizes XS–5XL, and a cropped sweater with cropped sleeves (white) in adult sizes XS–2XL.

The Hat: The hat is worked in the round on circular needles, from the bottom up.

The sweater pattern includes a table of sizes, basic measurements and calculations to help you plan your own garment. The table is versatile and can be used for any lopapeysa. Almost all measurements are given in both inches and centimeters.

TOOLS: Circular needles 3.5 & 4.5 mm / US 4 & 7. You may also need 4 stitch markers, 4 stitch holders and a darning needle.

YARN: Léttlopi by Ístex 0053 Acorn and 0051 White.
