Owl Icelandic Lopapeysa Sweater Knitting Pattern

Owl Icelandic lopapeysa sweater, its yoke worked in ecru, indigo and light indigo — a nod to owls silently watching over a moonlit forest.

Body and sleeves are worked in the round from the lower edge to the underarms, then joined to work the yoke in one continuous round. Round begins at left side of body. On yoke, round begins on the left side of back at the joining of body and sleeve. For knitting the sleeves, I recommend using the ‘magic loop’ technique, which helps you to avoid bunching up when enlarging and working on pattern, and also saves your time.

L: 106 cm / 42"
XL: 116 cm / 45.5"
2XL: 126 cm / 49.5"

GAUGE: 4” × 4” / 10 cm × 10 cm = 12 sts × 17 rows in stockinette stitch.

NEEDLES: Circular needles US 10 / 6 mm.

YARN: Álafosslopi by Ístex (100% Icelandic wool) or substitute chunky wool (e.g. Rowan Mode Chunky, Cascade 220 Grande or Malabrigo Chunky). The featured colours are Álafosslopi 9972 Ecru, 9959 Indigo and 9958 Light Indigo.
