Fjord Fair Isle hat, its shades of grey, white and black echoing the layered cliffs and still water of a Nordic fjord. The pattern comes as a PDF with written instructions in English, charts and photos, available for immediate download after payment. It prints onto A4 or US Letter paper. You will need software such as Adobe Reader to access it (see adobe.com).
This is intermediate level knitting pattern; the following skills are required: Cast on, Knit, Purl, Circular Knitting, Color Knitting, Bind off. All measurements are given in US and metric. Hat is knitted in one piece. Full pattern support is available by message or email.

This hat is also available in a colorful Shetland version.

SIZE: 21"–23" | 54–59 cm circumference

YARN: Any DK weight yarn. I used DROPS Alpaca yarn (5 ply sport) in 2 treads:
55 yds / 30 g white color 101 — A,
36 yds / 20 g light grey color 501 — B,
36 yds / 20 g medium grey color 517 — C,
36 yds / 20 g dark grey color 506 — D.

GAUGE: 4” × 4” / 10 cm × 10 cm = 20 sts × 23 rows in stockinette stitch.

NEEDLES: Circular or double pointed needles US 4–6 / 3.5–4 mm.

Seller was very patient with my questions. I made some changes....Used Cascade 220 Sport yarn, smaller needles and added repeats to get the size. I also used a smaller needle when I started decreasing for the crown, because I wanted a clatter top. Came out great! Pattern was very easy to accommodate to these changes.
