You will need a program such as AdobeReader to access it (see adobe.com). The patterns are ideal for a beginner knitter, skills required: Cast on, Knit, Purl, Bind off. All measurements are given in US and metric. Blanket is knitted in one piece. Furthermore full pattern support is available by email.
