Here’s another interesting experiment I conducted with natural dyeing using green tea. It so happened that I brewed too much tea, leaving me with about two cups of first infusion. It wasn’t safe to drink anymore, but why waste it? Especially since I had a 25 g skein of yarn (75% wool, 25% polyamide, 50 g / 205 m) sitting in a cream of tartar solution for about a month.
I poured the tea, including the leaves, into a pot, added the yarn, and put it on low heat. After bringing it to a boil, I simmered it for half an hour and then turned off the stove. The yarn absorbed all the tea color, leaving the water completely clear!
I let it cool down overnight and rinsed it in the morning.
Here’s how the dry skein looks.
